Lunch with the Lark’s at The Imbibers, Oatlands
It’s the stories that people remember. A great story always involves some sort of twist, like when things go wrong. Great stories stick in people’s memories.
Come along, share a grazing board and listen to the story of Tasmanian whisky from the family that began it all.
It was in 1992 that Bill has his epiphany whilst fishing in the Tasmanian highlands. This began with he and Lyn around the kitchen table working out how to start this whisky adventure. They got the first distillery license since 1839 and six years later released their first whisky.
Lyn Lark, a celebrated gin craft distiller, launched the Pepperberry gin back in 1998 at the Deloraine craft fair.
Kristy Lark is the first, second generation Australian distiller and began her distillery in Hobart 2016, Killara Distillery, which is now established at Richmond. Kristy formed the Australian Women in Distilling Association in 2017 and produces Apothercary Gin, single malt whisky and other spirits.
Jack Lark, is the head distiller at Battery Point Distillery, making a gin called House of Lenna, Blend No 1. Lyn worked with Jack to develop the blend. He is also an acclaimed actor.
The Imbibers is a restaurant and bar in Oatlands that celebrates the local hero. The food and beverages are only sourced from a 50km radius.
