Battery Point Distillery was born from a passion for Tasmania and the respected traditions of whisky distilling. Located in Hobart’s historic Battery Point, where winding lanes of 19th-century cottages rise from the harbour, a small stone building contains small-batch, hand-made whiskies slowly aging in carefully sourced casks. The distillery utilizes vintage Spanish sherry, tawny, and port casks as well as newer bourbon casks in their vision. Whisky runs proudly in the blood of pioneer distiller Jack Lark. Creative and visionary use of cask and barrel influence drives extraordinary character into all Battery Point whiskies. Each whisky is double-distilled in tiny quantities from 100% Tasmanian malt mash and pure Tasmanian water, making each batch completely unique. Variations and nuances of single, double or triple cask ageing create exceptional contemporary expressions of Tasmania. The distillery is located a five-minute walk from Battery Point, Salamanca Market, Princes Park, and the Wharf Area, with nearby restaurants, the Lenna Heritage Hotel, and onsite accommodation.
